Catholic Schools Week 2016

Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Academy, Mill Basin

Educating the Whole Child

Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Academy is Mill Basin’s top educational and Catholic institution – second to none!

Building on more than 65 years of providing educational excellence in the community, Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Academy was founded in 2015. A Christ-like atmosphere of respect, love and concern provides the framework for all instructional programs.

From Pre-K 3 to grade eight, the emphasis is on educating the whole child – academically, spiritually and socially in preparation for their future roles as productive citizens in today’s diverse society.

Respectful, Responsible
Educators are positive role models, who encourage students to develop into respectful, honest and responsible young adults. They recognize students’ multiple intelligences and try to adapt the curriculum so that instruction is differentiated for their individual needs. Personal excellence is achievable and always worth the investment.

Understanding that self-esteem is directly related to success, Mary Queen of Heaven offers many opportunities for its children to shine:

• A Junior Beta Club encouraging leadership through community service.

• Tech, photography and decorating teams.

• Spanish and music classes.

• Band.

• Monthly assemblies honoring Students of the Month.

• Pre-K for 3- and 4-year-olds.

• Early morning drop-off.

• More than $250,000 in scholarships won.

• Participation – and winning entries – in community art and essay contests.

Healthy Relationships

Education is the shared responsibility of the academy, its governing boards and its families. An open-door policy fosters good communication and healthy relationships. Coming soon, an after-school program to meet the needs of working parents and families.
