Loughlin’s Williams Commits to Rutgers

Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene, standout shooting guard Michael Williams has committed to play basketball at Rutgers University, Piscataway, N.J., according to SNY.tv.

Williams is a six-foot, two-inch rising senior who, along with teammate Khadeen Carrington, helped lead the Loughlin Lions to a city championship berth, where they ultimately feel to Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village.

Williams will play under newly-hired Rutgers coach Eddie Jordan, who spent parts of six seasons in the NBA and was a member of the 1982 NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan took over in mid-April for Mike Rice, who was dismissed of his duties after video footage surfaced of him physically and verbally abusing his players in practice.

This past season for Loughlin, Williams averaged 19.7 pts., 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game.He was an All-CHSAA ‘AA’ First Team selection and was a first team Tablet ‘AA’ All-Star.
