Holy Cross Students Help African Villages

During Lent, the Theology 10 Honors Seminar at Holy Cross H.S., Flushing, applied their understanding of the development of Christianity to the modern world. Critical analysis of the Holocaust, as well as present-day events that test people’s faith, are fundamental components of the course.

In looking at Judaism during the Holocaust and beyond, the course followed the Lenten theme of almsgiving. Students made containers for collecting coins for the less fortunate, similar to those found in traditional Jewish homes.

Through close collaboration with the International Help of Missionaries Foundation, students collected donations for the construction of water wells in villages in Africa. To date, Holy Cross students have helped to build three water wells in Ghana.
