VIDEO: New Artwork of St. Carlo Acutis Installed at St. Mary, Mother of Jesus Church

BENSONHURST — A new piece of art depicting St. Carlo Acutis is in the “crying room” at St. Mary Mother of Jesus.

It was commissioned by an anonymous parishioner and took several months to create at Demetz Art Studio in Italy. Pastor, Msgr. Andrew Vaccari, says he hopes it inspires devotions to St. Carlo Acutis, especially among the young parishioners and their families using the crying room.

“I think he’s a wonderful example for young people, for old people, for anybody, because he summarizes for us what our life is meant to be about. He illustrates that you can become a saint at a young age. You can become a saint using the internet. You can become a saint playing soccer. You can become a saint doing the things that we do every day,”  Msgr. Vaccari said.

Just this month St. Carlo Acutis’ doctors and hospital chaplain shared memories of his final days. The 15 year old passed away within one week of being diagnosed with leukemia.
