A celebration of faith as much as culture, The Great Irish Fair will open with Mass celebrated by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m.
Fair admission is $12 daily for adults (age 12 and older); $30 for families (two adults and their children).
The annual 5K Race/Run/Walk on the Riegelmann Boardwalk begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. Registration is ongoing. See the full details.
Older children are invited to participate in the race. Younger ones will enjoy a separate area at the fairgrounds with rides, magic shows, face painting and balloonists. The cost of unlimited rides is $15 per child.
All net proceeds are donated to support Catholic education in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens.
More than two dozen vendors will be offering an array of Celtic treasures as well as hot and cold food, including traditional Irish fare like the scones at right, and beverages.
As always, the fair will go on rain or shine.
Live Irish music and step dancing will be highlights of the fair. Among the scheduled performers are Andy Cooney, Jameson’s Revenge, The Canny Brothers, John Rafferty, Unforgettable Fire, the O’Malley School of Irish Dance and the Buckley School of Irish Dance. See the full schedule of performers.
