Gladys Kelly Hirten, 88, the mother of Father Timothy J. Hirten, a priest of the Brooklyn Diocese currently on active duty as a U.S. Air Force chaplain in the Middle East, died July 28 at her home in Bellemore, L.I.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 4 at St. Barnabas Church, Bellemore.

In addition to Father Hirten, she is survived by her sons Mickey, Terry and Bob, and daughters, Nancy McAtasney and Maureen Agostinacchio.
