Four Marist Brothers Mark Their Jubilees

Two Marist Brothers are marking their 50th anniversaries as members of the Order. They are:

Brother Robert

Brother Robert McCauley, F.M.S., entered the Marist Novitiate in 1967. He professed his first vows on Aug. 15, 1968.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in math at Marist College, he began his teaching career at Roselle Catholic H.S. located in Roselle, N.J., in 1969. He also was a math teacher at Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, 1970-98; Marymount College, 1998-2000; and St. John’s University, 2000-present.

He earned a master’s in mathematics education from Rutgers University in 1973 and professed his final vows on Dec. 18, 1976.

Brother Pat Hogan, F.M.S., entered the Marist Novitiate in 1957 and professed his first vows on July 26, 1958.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in biology at Marist College, he then began teaching at Resurrection-Ascension School, Rego Park. He professed his final vows on July 11, 1963, and earned a master’s in theology from Notre Dame University in 1972.

From 1962 until 1980, he was a teacher, coach, and guidance counselor at Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood. From 1980 until 1985, he served as vocation director for the Marist Brothers.

In 1985, he returned to Archbishop Molloy as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor, where he continues to serve today. He also has served as an EMT at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and has spent over 40 summers working at the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp, Esopus, N.Y.

Two Marist Brothers are observing their 25th year of service with the Order. They are:

Brother Todd

Brother Todd Patenaude, F.M.S., entered the Marist Novitiate in Esopus in 1992. He professed his first vows on June 6, 1994.

He taught at Sacred Heart School, the Bronx, 1994-98; was assistant principal at Central Catholic H.S. in Lawrence, Mass., 1998-2001; campus minister at Our Lady of Lourdes H.S., Poughkeepsie, 2003-07; director of the outdoor adventure retreat program in Esopus, 2007-12; teacher at Alpha Boys School in Jamaica, West Indies, 2012-15; and currently serves as vocation director for the Marist Brothers.

He earned a master’s in kinesiology from the University of New Hampshire in 2002 and professed his final vows on Sept. 10, 1999.

Brother Dan

Brother Dan O’Riordan, F.M.S., graduated Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, in 1985 and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University College Cork, Ireland, in 1990.

He then began teaching in Cork City in 1989. As a candidate with the Marist Brothers, he taught and coached at Roselle Catholic H.S., Roselle, N.J., 1990-92.

He entered the Marist Novitiate in Esopus, in 1992. After professing his first vows on June 6, 1994, he served as a teacher, coach, counselor and campus minister at Archbishop Molloy H.S., 1994-98; at Bishop Donahue H.S., McMechen, WV, 1998-2004; and at Roselle Catholic H.S., 2004-11.

He was vocation director for the Marist Brothers USA Province, 2011-15, and currently serves as vice provincial of the USA Province.
He earned a master’s in educational psychology from Marist College in 1994.

He has coordinated more than 100 service trips allowing many young people the opportunity to serve the least favored in many communities.
