Fontbonne Hall Academy

Exciting Enhancements on Bay Ridge Campus

At Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge, several exciting facilities enhancements are underway as the school admits members of the Class of 2021.

Fontbonne is committed to providing its students with a forward-moving curriculum. To that end, the school is replacing all SMART Boards with Triumph 65-inch interactive panels that teachers and students can utilize for lessons and presentations. The technology provides extraordinary visuals and allows up to 10 users to write and draw simultaneously using fingers, a stylus or a pointer. Glassboards will replace blackboards and whiteboards in the classrooms. A new digital library will also be added to the campus.

Construction is underway for the addition of a fabrication lab, a project-based, integrated education program that focuses on digital design, digital fabrication and robotics. Students will learn by designing and creating objects and will be connected to a global community of learners, educators, technologists and innovators. Fabrication lab stations will include a 3D printer, laser cutters and engravers, vinyl cutting, video conferencing and drones among several other exciting stations.

These changes are being made to support the school’s movement toward project-based learning across the curriculum.

Fontbonne recently announced the inauguration of the Maria Bartiromo Broadcast Journalism Studio, coinciding with its new Broadcast Journalism course. The studio, made possible through the generosity of alumna Maria Bartiromo ’85, is a state-of-the-art environment in which students will learn all aspects of the digital and TV news production process. Broadcasts developed by the students will be transmitted within Fontbonne and also be made available via YouTube.

Security upgrades are also part of the facilities enhancements. The first phase of these upgrades was the recent addition of a full-time security guard.

Fontbonne prides itself on offering a superior college preparatory education, while instilling solid morality and character in its young women. Ever mindful that a Fontbonne education is grounded in the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the school’s chapel is also being renovated through the generosity of alumnae.
