Fidelis Offers Affordable Health Care Advice

With so many choices and variables, selecting the best health insurance coverage for you and your family can be difficult. Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is making it simple, with help from the Fidelis Affordable Care Advisor.

Found on Fidelis Care’s website, fideliscare.org, the Fidelis Affordable Care Advisor is an online calculator that can help you plan for and estimate the costs of new insurance options offered through New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace.

By entering a zip code, date of birth, number of family members and household income, the Fidelis Affordable Care Advisor presents insurance options at prices that include subsidies or tax credits, if they apply. It also allows users to schedule an appointment with a Fidelis Care representative who can assist with enrollment.

“We know that the biggest question people have right now is, ‘How much will health insurance coverage cost?’” said Pamela Hassen, Fidelis Care chief marketing officer. “Using the Fidelis Affordable Care Advisor can give you an estimate of the cost of coverage and the options available with just a few clicks of the mouse. Health insurance doesn’t need to be complicated.”

Entering the information takes less than two minutes, and the calculations appear immediately. They are estimates only, based on the information that is provided. The Fidelis Affordable Care Advisor can also determine if you may be eligible for Medicaid or other government-sponsored health insurance options as well as an estimated penalty if you choose not to enroll in a health insurance plan.

Open enrollment for New York State of Health runs until March 31, 2014.

As the N.Y.S. Catholic Health Plan, Fidelis Care offers quality, affordable coverage for children and adults of all ages and at all stages of life, including products available through New York State of Health: the Official Health Plan Marketplace. It serves more than 910,000 members in 59 counties statewide.
