Feast Honors Our Lady in Mill Basin

Hundreds flocked to St. Bernard Church, Mill Basin, in late July for the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, sponsored annually by the Gioiosa Marina Social Club. The four-day feast closed with Mass, celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Raymond Chappetto in English and Italian, and a street procession. The bishop is pictured above, with Msgr. Joseph Grimaldi, pastor; Father Michael Tedone, parochial vicar; Father Thomas; parish staff and members of the Gioiosa Marina Social Club. The parish will celebrate its patronal feast day on Aug. 20 at the 11 a.m. Mass. (Photos: Rita Damato)
