Father Sans Is Celebrating His 65th Year as a Priest

Father Pablo Sans, who lives at Our Lady of the Cenacle rectory in Richmond Hill, marked his 65th year as a priest on March 15.

Born in Sancellas, Spain, he was ordained in 1953 by Bishop Lisson, C.M.

For the first eight years of his priesthood, he taught at the San Jose Inter Diocesan Seminary in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
From 1961 to 1963, he served at the Catedral de San Pedro Sula in Honduras.

Arriving in the Brooklyn Diocese, he was stationed at Monserrat Mission Chapel, Brooklyn, 1963-64; and St. Peter Claver, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1964-65, before returning to Spain for three years.

Back in the Brooklyn Diocese, he also served as an assistant at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Ridgewood, 1967-68; St. Peter’s, Downtown Brooklyn, 1968-72; and St. Gabriel, East New York, 1972-78.

He was incardinated as a priest of the Brooklyn Diocese on July 7, 1977.

In 1979, he was assigned to St. Agnes parish, Cobble Hill, and then served at Our Lady of Sorrows, Corona, 1981-92; and St. Rita’s, Long Island City, 1992-93, before being transferred to Our Lady of the Cenacle.
