Carol Ann Fagan, payroll and billing manager for the Secretariat for Human and Information Resources of the Diocese of Brooklyn and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, Williamsburg, died Feb. 3.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 6 at the church. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio was the main celebrant.

In her position for the diocese, she was a tireless and valued employee who was instrumental in automating the diocesan payroll process. She was highly respected by all who worked with her.

She is survived by her husband, Paul J., and their children, David, Jordan, John and Paulina; two grandchildren; her mother Caroline Gaeta; brothers Patrick and Paulie and sister JoAnn Gaeta.

She was extremely active in her community as a Girl Scout leader, Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, Daughters and Sons of Italian Heritage and a catechist for special needs children.

She was especially well known in the parish as a Third Order Carmelite and a volunteer worker at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast, particularly in Our Lady’s Shrine.

Father Joseph Fonti, former pastor, preached the homily. He spoke about her deep devotion to her faith, her love for the parish and her sincere desire to bring others to the Lord. He mentioned, in particular, her love for her family, and her desire to be “present in a different way” to her grandchild Toby Carrol, named in her honor, who will be born this spring.

Burial was at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
