Deacon Teodosio Dominguez, 89, father of Jorge Dominguez, editor of Nuestra Voz and acting assistant editor of The Tablet, died in his native Cuba, June 14.

He was the first permanent deacon ordained in the Archdiocese of Havana in 1990, after waiting 20 years to be ordained.

In his town, the priest visited about twice a week so he was effectively in charge of his parish for many years. He was also a nurse. For decades, he visited the sick, bringing medial care and spiritual consolation.

The funeral took place in Cuba.
