CYO Crowns Girls Hoops Champs

The Catholic Youth Organization of Brooklyn and Queens held its girls’ basketball diocesan championships Feb. 21 at St. John’s Prep, Astoria. Below are the results from each of the respective divisions title games.

In Division 1:
Pee Wee – Our Lady of Hope, Middle Village, over Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Bayside
Novice – St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, defeated St. Stanislaus, Maspeth
Bantam – St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Jamaica, bested St. Adalbert’s, Elmhurst
Rookie – St. Francis de Sales downed St. Kevin, Flushing
Intermediate – Our Lady of Lourdes, Queens Village, defeated St. Adalbert

Div. 2:
Pee Wee – St. Sebastian, Woodside, over St. Mary, Winfield
Novice – St. Andrew Avellino, Flushing, defeated Our Lady of the Snows, North Floral Park
Bantam – Our Lady of the Snows bested St. Adalbert
Rookie – St. Adalbert downed Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament
Intermediate – Queen of Peace, Kew Gardens, defeated Sacred Heart, East Glendale.

St. Francis de Sales seventh grade CYO Champions included: kneeling from left, Lauren Dean, Olivia Stack, Caroline Gifford; standing, Brooke Leahy, Tori Mullen, Corrine Connolly, Chole Murphy, Nicole Moran and Hannah Brown. The team was coached by Grace Leahy and John Moran.
