The Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village, boys’ basketball team defeated Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene, 72-61 in this year’s CHSAA city championship game played March 9 at Fordham University, the Bronx.

The game was a rematch of last year’s city title game — also won by the Royals — and this year’s Brooklyn/Queens championship, which the Lions won handily.

Sophomore forward Rawle Alkins led the Royals with 24 pts., while junior forward Travis Atson scored 21 pts. and added 10 rebounds to earn CHSAA Playoff M.V.P. honors.

Senior center Adonis Delarose had 10 pts. and 15 rebounds, and senior guard Andre Walker tallied 13 pts., eight rebounds and six assists.

The Royals move on to the state federation tournament in Albany, N.Y., looking to defend their 2013 title.
