During the annual Chrism Mass at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio blessed the holy oils that will be used to administer the sacraments throughout the diocese during the coming year. About 1,000 people filled the Prospect Heights church. Father Patrick West, Msgr. Jonas C. Achacoso, and Father Brian Dowd were among the 300 priests and deacons who renewed their promises. Priests who celebrated special anniversaries this year were among the special concelebrants. Also in attendance were Father William Krlis and Msgr. James Spengler, both of whom are marking their 50th years in the priesthood.
