Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the many gifts that Catholic education provides. Our schools are places of learning, faith, and community, where students are encouraged to grow in mind, body, and spirit.
We are proud to offer a curriculum that is both rigorous and engaging, and that prepares our students for success in college and beyond. But Catholic education is about more than just academics. It is about instilling values that will serve our students well throughout their lives: values like compassion, integrity, and service. It is about inviting our students to see Jesus at the center of everything.
I am thrilled to report that Catholic Schools Week 2024 throughout Brooklyn and Queens was a resounding success!
Our schools were buzzing with excitement and energy as we celebrated the many achievements of our students, teachers, and staff. I must offer my gratitude to everyone who made this week possible.
We were honored to welcome Bishop Robert Brennan, Vicar of Catholic Schools Msgr. David Cassato, many auxiliary bishops, monsignors, clergy, and other VIPs to every school. Their presence was a testament to the importance of Catholic education and the role it plays in shaping the future of our diocese. We saw students engaged in a wide range of activities demonstrating their faith and knowledge. The enthusiasm and creativity on display were truly inspiring.
A special thank you must also go to our principals, teachers, and staff who worked tirelessly to make Catholic Schools Week a success. They are the lifeblood of the schools each and every day. Their dedication and commitment to our students is truly remarkable. We are blessed to have them at the center of our school communities.
The excellence in our schools is directly supported by the selfless parents who make the choice to send their children to Catholic school. I must thank them for their commitment. Our parents are willing to make commitments and see Catholic schools as an investment in the future.
And to the donors who support our schools: Your generosity makes it possible for us to provide a high-quality Catholic education to all who seek it. We stand on your shoulders!
As we look back on Catholic Schools Week 2024, I am filled with hope! Our schools educate children to see the world with a Catholic imagination, and in turn are commissioning them to change the world.
