Catholic Schools Week 2017

Cathedral High School

Start on the Path to a Career in Medicine, Law or STEM

Located at 350 East 56th Street (between First and Second avenues) in New York City, academic success has been synonymous with Cathedral High School since its founding in 1905. Cathedral has educated generations of young women to meet their scholastic potential.

In addition to offering an honors program and 10 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Cathedral also offers programs in medicine; law and business; languages, including Spanish, Mandarin, American Sign Language and Latin, and electives such as forensic science and anatomy, women’s studies, broadcasting and journalism, art and music just to name a few.

Specialized Programs

Cathedral is immensely proud of its Medical Gateways program. Through partnerships with New York’s world-class medical community, students have opportunities to observe medical professionals at work and to participate in internships while still in high school. The students receive first-hand experience in institutions such as Beth Israel and New York Presbyterian.

In the law program students explore careers in the legal system and participate in internships with law firms. Students take special classes and attend Saturday workshops that explore different legal and professional topics.

The STEM curriculum includes classes and clubs such as Robotics, Girls Who Code, Technical Drawing and STEAM.

A full complement of extracurricular activities keeps the career-minded student body well rounded. From clubs such as the marching band, musical theater and choir to sports which include basketball, cheerleading, fencing, soccer, softball, lacrosse, cross country, volleyball and more.

Cathedral prepares its students for the world that lies ahead of them. The Class of 2016 received over $25 million in college scholarships and grants and were accepted into schools such as Barnard College, Brandeis University, Columbia University, and New York University.
