Glendale Parishioners Visit Holy Doors

Forty parishioners from Sacred Heart parish, East Glendale, were led by Father Marcin Chilczuk, administrator, on a pilgrimage to the Jubilee Year of Mercy Holy Doors at two churches.

Statue of Mary Adorns Front of The Chancery

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio blessed a statue of the Virgin Mary that was installed June 22 outside the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Chancery building in Park Slope. Dozens of diocesan employees and three auxiliary bishops were present for the ceremony that followed a noontime Mass.

12 New Acolytes on Road to the Diaconate

Twelve men who are studying to become permanent deacons for the parishes in Brooklyn and Queens, were admitted as Acolytes June 22 at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston. Auxiliary Bishop James Massa presided.

Prayer, Service Help Queens’ Youth Prepare for WYD

Young people from St. Bartholomew Church, Elmhurst, spent a weekend retreat focused on being Christ to others in preparation for this year’s World Youth Day in Poland. The young adults – who are part of the 400 pilgrims from the Diocese of Brooklyn going to World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow July 26-31 – are preparing their hearts through service and prayer.
