Calvary Hospital: Specializing in Palliative and Hospice Care

Each year, more than 6,000 patients – of all faith traditions – are cared for annually by Calvary’s inpatient, home care and hospice services.

Since 2001, residents of Brooklyn have been able to obtain CalvaryCare in several ways:

• Inpatient care at the 25-bed Brooklyn Campus

• Home Care and Home Hospice where they reside

• Participating in free bereavement support groups in Downtown Brooklyn for adults, children, tweens and teens

Calvary’s flagship 200-bed hospital is located in the Bronx. Calvary Hospice provides short-term inpatient care at The Dawn Greene Hospice at Mary Manning Walsh in Manhattan and at Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing Home. Calvary also brings its home care and hospice care into hundreds of private homes and select nursing facilities each day throughout the greater New York area. As needed, Calvary@Home can facilitate a seamless transition to our four inpatient facilities.

Each summer, Calvary’s Camp Compass offers grieving children ages six-17, a one-week summer day camp experience at Kingsborough Community College. More than 80 children and teens are expected to attend Calvary’s 20th consecutive camp later this month.

Calvary partners with leading organizations in the Jewish community to educate observant Jewish families about how to obtain quality end-of-life medical care in full accordance with Halakha (Jewish law). In 2016, Calvary restored a 135-year-old historic Torah scroll housed at the Hospital’s Bronx campus. It is kosher again for use in services and Jewish rituals.
