Calvary is the nation’s only fully accredited acute-care specialty hospital devoted to providing palliative care to adult patients from all faith traditions with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. More than 6,000 patients are cared for annually by Calvary’s inpatient, outpatient, home care, hospice and wound care services.
Inpatient care is offered at a 200-bed facility in the Bronx, and a 25-bed Brooklyn Satellite at NYU Lutheran in Sunset Park. Calvary Hospice provides short-term inpatient care at The Dawn Greene Hospice, located at Mary Manning Walsh Home, Manhattan.
Since 2001, Calvary’s Brooklyn Satellite has improved the quality of life for many of the more than 3 million people who live in this bustling and diverse borough.
- Calvary offers signature care to inpatients at our the 25-bed Brooklyn Satellite at NYU Lutheran;
- Calvary provides Home Care and Home Hospice right in people’s home or at select nursing facilities in Brooklyn and Queens; and
- Calvary helps dozens of adults, adolescents and children with free bereavement support groups in downtown Brooklyn.
In March 2016, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn recognized the outstanding care given by the staff at Calvary’s Brooklyn Satellite with The Bishop Thomas Vose Daily Pro Vita Award.
Calvary and Yeshiva University have collaborated to provide observant Jewish families with the information they need to obtain quality end-of-life care in full accordance with Halakha (Jewish law). Calvary is restoring a 135-year-old historic Torah scroll housed at the hospital’s Bronx campus. Scroll No. 515, from the town of Taus-Domazlice, is on permanent loan from the Memorial Scrolls Trust in London.
