Brooklynite Is Ordained For the Salesian Order

Father Victor, S.D.B.

Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, S.D.B., ordained Father Dieunel Victor, S.D.B., from St. Jerome’s parish in Flatbush and three other men as Salesian priests on Saturday, June 24, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor, N.Y.

Father Victor celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving at St. Jerome’s Church on Sunday, July 2.

Born in Haiti, Father Victor, 34, came to the U.S. in 2000. His family joined St. Jerome’s parish. He entered the Salesians in 2004 and made his first profession of vows on Aug. 16, 2008.

He studied theology at Studium Theologicum Salesianum (the Ratisbonne Institute) in Jerusalem from 2013 to 2017 and was assigned to Don Bosco Cristo Rey H.S. in Takoma Park, Md., as coordinator of youth ministry.

The other three new priests are Fathers Paul Phuoc Trong Chu of Springfield, Mass., Minh Duc Dang of Burke, Va., and Jean Wilgintz Polynice of Spring Valley.
