Brooklyn Nets’ All-Star point guard Deron Williams helped serve 3,000 hot meals to the local homeless community Nov. 24 at St. John’s Bread & Life, Bedford-Stuyvesant.

He was joined by volunteers from his Point of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to directly impact the lives of needy children.

“There’s a lot of people in Brooklyn that are down and out on their luck,” Williams said. “Especially around this time, around Thanksgiving, it’s great to be able to come out here and serve and give back to the community that definitely supports us.”

“For our guests, some of them have tough lives, so it shows them they are appreciated too when someone comes and takes their time and provides this nice meal,” said Anthony Butler, executive director of St. John’s Bread & Life.
