Brooklyn-born Daughter of Wisdom Honored for Service to Retreat Center

A celebration of gratitude will be held in honor of Sister Rosemarie Greco, D.W., as she retires after 27 years of service as executive director of Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center in Litchfield, Conn., Dec. 17.

Sister Rosemarie, a Brooklyn native, has been a Daughter of Wisdom in Litchfield for 54 years. Her ministries have included religious education, liturgical music composition and evangelization through media. She served as an educator in Uganda and a catechist trainer in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, L.I.

In 1990, she arrived at arrived at Wisdom House, the first retreat house in Connecticut to have an outdoor labyrinth and a permanent art gallery. She initiated the installation of solar panels, contemporary chapel art windows and the renovation of the Spruce Brook Barn.

During her tenure she was responsible for making the center an inclusive interfaith and intercultural retreat center for organizations seeking accommodations and meeting space. She spearheaded the evolution of the center as a locus for creative programs in the arts, interfaith understanding and education in contemporary issues.
