Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will ordain 10 men into the permanent diaconate at a May 29 ceremony at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights. During the ceremony, the sacrament of Holy Orders will be conferred upon the men who are ordained to serve the people of God through proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at Mass, and performing acts of charity for the community. The title, “deacon,” comes from the Greek word for service, “diakonia.”
