So it wasn’t surprising that a crowd turned out last weekend when Holy Family Council of the Knights of Columbus in Fresh Meadows officially changed its name to Holy Family – Bishop Ignatius Catanello Council.

Irish Fair to be Held in New Oceanside Venue
There will be some changes made at the Great Irish Fair this year. Not only has the fair switched from a weekend event to a single-day affair but the venue will also be different.
The Great Irish Fair, which benefits Catholic schools in Brooklyn and Queens, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be held at the brand new Amphitheater on the Boardwalk in Coney Island.

Bishop DiMarzio ordained the 10 men on Saturday, June 4, in a two-and-a-half-hour ceremony at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, Prospect Heights. The new priests are Fathers Gesson Agenis, Yvon-Hector Aurelien, Victor Manuel Bolaños, Mark Charlton Mendelsohn Bristol, Ralph Edel, Lukasz Kubiak, Uririoghene Melchizedek John-Baptist Okrokoto, Ambiorix D’Jesus Osorio Torres, Jaroslaw Szeraszewicz, and Marcial Thomas.

The New York Daily News hit a new low in journalism this week when it flashed a front-page headline accusing Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of trying to bribe a Queens politician. It’s part of the Daily News’ concerted effort in recent days to discredit the Church in order to push a political agenda in Albany.

Statue That Was Lost Now Has Been Found
What was lost has now been found!
A statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that was displayed for the past four years outside the rectory at SS. Peter and Paul, Williamsburg, disappeared shortly after midnight on April 30. Tape from the parish’s surveillance cameras showed three young people running off with the sacred item.
