As part of its centennial year celebration, St. Nicholas of Tolentine parish held a special Mass and social for long-time parishioners on Sunday, May 7.
Over 70 parishioners who have been members of the Jamaica parish for at least 30 years attended the 12:15 p.m. Mass, where they received a blessing from Father John Francis, pastor, above. Ten of those men and women have lived in the parish for more than 60 years.
Father John Gribowich, right, parochial vicar, presented certificates to these treasured members of the church community at a reception after Mass.
More events are being planned to celebrate the parish’s 100th year, including a spring concert, May 20 at 7 p.m. in the church, and a family picnic at Cunningham Park in June.
The anniversary year will close with a dinner dance on Sept. 9 and a 12:15 p.m. liturgy on Sept. 10, the feast day of the parish patron.
