Longtime Educators Honored in Jackson Heights

Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros celebrated Mass for the staff, students, parents and parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima, Jackson Heights, during Catholic Schools Week. He visited on Staff Recognition Day and at the end of Mass, everyone who works in the school received a token of appreciation. Special recognition was given to teachers and staff marking significant anniversaries as Catholic educators in the diocese. Tablet columnist and St. John’s University professor, Father Robert Lauder will be the special guest when Incarnation Church, Queens Village, presents a 50th anniversary movie presentation of “A Man for All Seasons,” on Feb. 19.

Were you or someone you love a Bishop McDonnell girl?
On Saturday, April 22, graduates from the 1930s, along with alumnae from the classes of 1942, ’47, ’52, ’57, ’62, 67 and ’72 are invited to reunite at the former Bishop McDonnell H.S., located at 260 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
The reunion will begin at noon and alumnae are welcome to bring guests. The cost is $90 per person.

The parish is already planning its Irish Night Celebration for March 4, starting at 7 p.m. The Cunningham Brothers will provide entertainment for the evening, which includes a traditional Irish dinner with beer and wine, and something sweet to end the meal of course. International Feast for St. Thomas in Flatlands

 
In Flatlands, St. Thomas Aquinas’ feast day was celebrated at the parish named in his honor with an international family food festival.
