Father Robert Lauder will give a free talk on “Walker Percy: Existentialist Novelist” in the library at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, L.I., on Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. This talk is the latest installment of the seminary’s Book Talk Series.
Percy was greatly influenced by the Existentialist thinkers, Soren Kierkegaard and Gabriel Marcel. Father Lauder’s lecture will illustrate this through Percy’s novel, “The Moviegoer.”
Father Lauder is a philosophy professor at St. John’s University, Jamaica, and writes a regular arts and culture column for The Tablet. He has penned several books, has run book discussion groups through the years, and has been moderating film festivals at Douglaston twice a year for nearly 25 years.
