St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy has been serving the students of the Rockaway Peninsula for over 100 years of academic excellence. The academy prides itself on building a firm foundation in the Catholic faith and conveying the knowledge needed to help students achieve success in high school, college, career, and beyond. Graduates go on to accomplish great things while they continue their faith-filled journey through life.
As a vibrant and thriving school community of over 540 students, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy boasts a myriad of fantastic resources within each classroom. First and foremost, a dedicated, hardworking and talented faculty boast various degrees, advanced certificates and trainings that help them incorporate the best instructional practices in their classrooms.
In addition to the state mandated curriculum and standards-based units, the academy offers Earth Science and Algebra I Regents classes, enrichment STEAM activities, Spanish in first through eighth grades, and art, technology and physical education in pre-kindergarten to grade eight. A full-time Special Education Coordinator provides differentiated small group literacy support and handles all IESP reviews and implementation.
Students take part in all types of enrichment programs including Legos, Mad Science, Band, Abrakadoodle Art, Schoolhouse Chess and Balanced Kidz. The academy also offers early drop off and an after school program, where students can complete homework, play and socialize with friends.
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy has SMART Board technologies within each classroom, and iPad access for any grade. This year, the academy rolled out a state-of-the-art 1:1 Chromebook initiative in grades five through eight. Each content area is facilitated through Google Classroom and are fluidly integrated with every student’s Chromebook.
