The GCHSAA softball season wrapped up recently, and the following teams won their respective divisions.
St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay, took the JV ‘A’ division diocesan championship over Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst.
Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, defeated St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, to capture the JV ‘AA’ division. Molloy went on to beat Notre Dame Academy, Staten Island, in the city championship game.
St. Saviour H.S., Park Slope, earned an extra-inning win over St. Edmund Prep in the varsity ‘A’ division diocesan championship. The team then cruised to victory in the city championship over Aquinas H.S., the Bronx. It marked the first city softball championship for St. Saviour.
St. Francis Prep battled to a win over Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge, in the varsity ‘AA’ diocesan championship game. The team then dropped the state semifinal game to Nardin Academy, Buffalo.
