Shamrocks and smiles lined the streets of Belle Harbor and the Rockaways at the annual Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, March 5. A Mass for Peace and Justice in Ireland at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor, opened the day. Mayor Bill de Blasio joined Michael Benn, president of the parade committee, and the honorees as they stepped off just after noon. Local Catholic schools and parishes carried banners and marched along with the honorees, including John J. Murphy, business manager of Plumbers Local Union No. 1, who served as grand marshal. Among the deputy grand marshals was Father Jim Cunningham. (Photos and videos by Marie Elena Giossi; Father Cunningham photo courtesy of NET-TV)
