In anticipation of the school going co-ed starting in fall 2016, Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, has hired three coaches who will inaugurate the girls’ athletic program.

Margaret McKeon joins the staff as girls’ basketball coach and assistant athletic director; Mark Biancoviso will serves as the softball coach; and Erin Kennedy is slated to become the girls’ soccer and lacrosse coach, as well as a physical education and biology teacher.

“I can’t think of a better group of professionals to serve as the foundation for Xaverian’s girls’ athletics program,” said Robert Alesi, president of Xaverian. “Even more important than these coaches’ impressive records is their commitment to molding student athletes into successful, confident, young adults who understand the values of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance, both on the fields and courts, and in the classroom.”

McKeon, a graduate of Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village, and a member of the New York GCHSAA Hall of Fame, brings 25 years of basketball coaching experience, including stops at George Washington University, Washington, D.C., Boston University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark.

Biancoviso, who attended State University of Albany, N.Y., and the College of Staten Island, is the vice president of the Staten Island chapter of the Saints Fastball Softball Club, where he also coaches two teams.

Kennedy is a graduate of Manhattan College, where she was a dual sport athlete in soccer and track. She coached both soccer and lacrosse at St. Joseph by-the-Sea H.S., Staten Island.
