Recently, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a package of eight measures in women’s rights designed to curtail discrimination in housing, the workplace and domestic violence.

They also include human trafficking, pay equity, enhancement of sexual harassment laws, the rights of pregnant workers and the strengthening orders of protection for victims of domestic violence.

One aspect of this legislation that was not approved was the strengthening of “abortion rights” by a codification of Roe v. Wade. The decision was finally made to drop it from this package for the sake of the other parts, all of which are good and noble.

The truth is that the tide is truly turning on the issue of abortion. People are recognizing it for what it is.

People are recognizing more and more that abortion is not an issue of “reproductive rights”; it is murder. Thank God that people are waking up to this reality.
