Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens is sponsoring two different events on Sunday, Sept. 20, to prepare for Pope Francis’ visit to the United States.
The #WalkWithFrancis campaign began in the Archdiocese of Washington and Catholic Charities agencies across the country have been joining in the effort.
In Brooklyn, the Walk will begin at 4 p.m. at San Damiano Mission (Holy Family Church, Nassau Ave.) in Williamsburg and ends at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 6 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated and a reception will be held.
Catholic Charities also is sponsoring a diocesan-wide food drive. Parishioners are asked to bring nonperishable food to their local food pantry.
There are also other ways in which volunteers can observe the papal trip. To explore further volunteer opportunities, go to www.ccbq.org.
Those who are homebound are urged to pray for the papal pilgrimage wherever and whenever they can.
