In June, St. Bernard Knights of Columbus Council No. 14269, Mill Basin, proudly sponsored its annual scholarship and awards program, open to students in the schools and religious education programs at St. Bernard and Mary Queen of Heaven parishes. Started in 2010, the program, which includes an essay contest, grows in numbers and prizes each year. Through the council’s fundraising efforts and members’ personal contributions, the council has awarded a total of $21,750 in cash and tuition stipends in the last six years, including $4,350 in scholarships and awards presented last month.
