Cathedral Club Installs New Officers

We received word that the shelves of the food pantry at Our Lady of Mercy, Forest Hills, are desperately bare. The parish is asking for donations of canned fruit and vegetables, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, rice, tuna and crackers as well as shampoo, toothpaste and soap.
During the summer, the food pantry operates every Saturday, 10-11 a.m.

Meet this year’s Great Irish Fair honorees at the Fair’s kick-off reception, set for Wednesday, Aug. 13, at St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights.

Josephine Cachia, director of the diocesan Charismatic Renewal, asked Tablet TALK to spread the word that the first national meeting of Catholic ecclesial movements and new communities is taking place on Aug. 9, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., at Our Lady of Good Counsel H.S. in Olney, Md.
Around 1,500 members of nearly 20 movements and communities from across the U.S. will gather to both grow in knowledge, understanding and support of one another, as well as give witness to their joint commitment to the New Evangelization.
The daylong event includes addresses from bishops involved in the movements; keynotes from Ralph Martin, president of Renewal Ministries, and Jacquelyn DeMesme-Gray, regional coordinator of The Cursillo Movement; personal witnesses and a closing Mass celebrated by Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, D.C.
