VIDEO: Bishop Robert Brennan Celebrates All Souls’ Day Field Mass at Mount St. Mary Cemetery

FLUSHING — Families came together on Nov. 2 for an All Souls’ Day field Mass at Mount St. Mary Cemetery in Flushing.

Bishop Robert Brennan celebrated the Mass — sharing a message of hope with those who were grieving. Families said at a time that often feels like an emotional roller coaster — their Catholic faith provides a steady comfort.

“Find inspiration and hope in gathering with others and praying with others. Gives you give you a little sense of strength together that, you know, there’s some common ground there, and you know you have others who kind of have that shared experience,” said Cecilia Jacques, who attended the All Souls’ Day field Mass.

“Actually, I thought the mass was really beautiful today, and it did bring me a lot of comfort. I thought about my dad most of the time, and, it was really, really nice,” said Briana Farley.

“This is something to be said for when we are together. Grief is part of life. It’s, the only reason we grieve is because we love. And, when we share that grief with one another, we deepen those bonds of faith, hope, and love,” said Bishop Brennan.

After Mass, Bishop Brennan blessed key chains that were given out as a small reminder to carry the memory of loved ones every day.
