At the Vatican Pope Leo XIV, Prime Minister of Haiti Discuss Socipolitical Strife in the Caribbean Nation

Pope Leo XIV received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Haiti, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, at the Vatican on May 9.

The Prime Minister subsequently met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, at the Secretariat of State.

According to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office, the conversations at the Secretariat of State were cordial and acknowledged good relations between the Holy See and Haiti.

It noted that discussions focused on the valuable contribution that the Church provides to the country at this particular time and also addressed some current issues in Haiti, such as the socio-political situation and challenges in the humanitarian, migration, and security sectors.

The statement also mentioned the necessary contribution of the international community to address the present difficulties.
