
More than 150 pilgrims from 17 parishes in Brooklyn and Queens participated in Jornadas de Vida Cristiana’s Caminata on March 28, stopping at four parishes in Astoria along the way.
The Jordanas movement is a Catholic ecclesial group of Latino youth and young adults whose mission is to invite others into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Caminata is the movement’s annual Lenten Walk, designed to showcase different parts of the community. This year’s theme was “Joy, Jesus First.” At each parish stop, members said a prayer or performed a short skit illustrating the theme. During the walk, they also prayed the rosary.
The pilgrims began the procession at St. Joseph, before processing to St. Francis of Assisi, Immaculate Conception Church, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, where Bishop Robert Brennan greeted them outside before celebrating Mass in the church.
