Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor, Week of March 7, 2026

Congratulations on the Excellent Bishop Rodríguez Coverage

Dear Editor: Thanks for all your support of Bishop Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez’s special day (“Father Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez installed as sixth bishop of Palm Beach” Feb. 28).

The television coverage on Currents News, especially airing the whole speech, highlighted blessings.

What really impressed me is that you literally printed the special edition in The Tablet on Feb. 28, despite the blizzard and fact that the ceremony was held that afternoon.

Well done! Kudos to your staff.

God bless Bishop Emeritus Gerald Barbarito, whom I know from our original home parish, St. Catharine of Alexandria, and whose sister also lives here on Staten Island.

May he enjoy his “retirement” in support of the new bishop.

God bless Bishop Rodríguez and the Diocese of Palm Beach.

How nice that 13 brother priests from the Diocese of Brooklyn were there supporting and honoring him.

Celebrating U.S. Women’s Hockey Gold Medal

Dear Editor: Faith, sports, and humanity were together on the world stage (“ ‘Christ Is My Identity, My Foundation,’ Says Catholic Player on U.S. Women’s Hockey Team,” Feb. 25).

Congratulations to Haley Winn!

Leadership, teamwork, and building community are a winning combo.

Preserving a Sacred Language

Dear Editor: I have known and been friends with Father Joseph Palackal for about 30 years.

Your article (“Queens Parochial Vicar Turns Older Melodies Into Modern Inspiration,” Jan. 17) on his music and preservation of Aramaic, the language of Jesus, is well done and well deserved.
