As part of a reshuffle of their minor-league system, the New York Mets announced that the Brooklyn Cyclones will now be the team’s High Single-A affiliate. The schedule is still being formed for the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a normal year, High-A teams play 72 games.
“Getting promoted is a great sign for Brooklyn and for the organization,” said Gary Perone, Cyclones assistant general manager and a graduate of Bishop Ford H.S., Park Slope, and St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights.
“Over the first 20 years, we did well enough to prove that Coney Island and Brooklyn has a loyal, faithful fanbase. We’ve all been together for a long time doing this, so it’s really nice to see that the organization has a chance to do more.”
