A few former local CHSAA baseball players are continuing their journey toward achieving their lifelong dreams of reaching the big leagues.
Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, graduate Quentin Holmes is playing for the Lake County Captains, the Class-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Through 79 games, the speedy outfielder stole 18 bases and drove in 18 runs.
Holmes’ teammate at McClancy, Charlie Neuweiler, is pitching for the Lexington Legends, the Class-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. In 21 starts, the right-hander has posted a 4.63 ERA and 105 strikeouts.
Former Holy Cross H.S., Flushing, infielder Jaylen Palmer is playing in the hometown New York Mets system. Playing for the Kingsport Mets in Rookie ball, he’s hit five home runs and driven in 16 runs in 32 games.
