As the faithful gathered at St. Frances de Chantal Church in Borough Park on Good Friday evening for the Polish Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, room inside the church quickly ran out. The congregation spilled out onto the church steps and sidewalk where speakers were set up to transmit what was happening inside. More people joined the crowd for the scheduled procession to St. Catherine of Alexandria, but a forecast of rain and thunder kept the Stations of the Cross inside. Canon Andrzej Kurowski, S.A.C., pastor, announced the change citing safety concerns. Auxiliary Bishop Witold Mroziewski led the observances.
