Deacon Jerome H. Krebs, 89, a retired deacon of the diocese, died Dec. 18. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 21 at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Ridgewood.
Bishop Neil Tiedemann, CP, was the main celebrant of the funeral. Father Peter Gillen preached the homily.
Ordained a deacon on March 23, 1985, he helped run the St. Vincent de Paul Society and volunteered in the parish school and with CCD programs teaching religion. He also assisted the parish with weddings and funerals and was the parish Business Manager. He retired in early 2000’s.
Father Gillen said that Deacon Krebs “was heavily involved with the parish as he worked on the Tribunal and was the business manager. He also was involved in some way with every club or group the parish has. Deacon Krebs always wanted to help. He was a terrific family man and deacon, as he truly loved God and his family. He was a natural as a deacon as he was able to help with so many projects.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Krebs.
Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
