Sister Mary K. O’Brien, B.V.M. (Jean Catherine), 84, died Nov. 27, at Caritas Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dubuque.

In the Diocese of Brooklyn, Sister Mary K. taught seventh grade at St. Gregory the Great, Bellerose. She also taught elementary school in Sioux City, Iowa; Chicago and Grayslake, Ill.; and was school principal in Chicago and Wilmette, Ill. She served as elementary school resource person in Chicago.

Born in Chicago, she entered the BVM congregation in 1951, from Our Lady of Angels parish, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1954, and final vows on July 16, 1959.
