25 Years a Salvatorian Priest

Father Wasko, S.D.S.

Father Andrzej Wasko, S.D.S., parochial vicar at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Williamsburg, will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving at the church on Sunday, June 10, at 11 a.m. to mark his 25th anniversary of ordination.

Born in Poland, he worked as a young man as a master of ceremonies at wedding parties. In 1985, after graduating from high school, he joined the Salvatorian Fathers in Poland. He was ordained a Salvatorian priest in 1993.

After serving in parishes in Warsaw and Bielsko-Biała, Poland, he was assigned to India, the Philippines and Australia.

Later, he served in the Center for Spiritual Formation, Krakow, and in the online apostolate, www.katolik.pl. He was a confessor in the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, Krakow. He was the originator and owner of the website about the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Since the 1980s, almost every year he participates with thousands of pilgrims walking for 10 days on foot from Warsaw to the shrine of the Black Madonna in Czestochowa. In 2011, he arranged a walking pilgrimage from Hungary through Slovakia to the world center of the Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki.

In 2004, he was sent to serve in the Salvatorian communities in the U.S. For several years, he was a vicar in parishes of the Archdioceses of Chicago and Newark.

Since 2014, he has served at Our Lady of Consolation.
