When I need to break bad news to people, I strive to be as honest as possible. I feel that sugarcoating an issue tends to make matters worse. Therefore, complete honesty allows for the issue to be put out in the open to be evaluated.

When you break bad news to people you make sure that you are direct and straight to the point. You don’t sugarcoat the bad news, but rather you break it to them directly. Once you tell them the bad news, you make sure that you are there for support.

I tend to try to break bad news quickly, and then try to cheer that person up by showing them the silver lining.

When I have to tell someone bad news I usually say it to the full truth. I tell the person everything and then tell them that everything will be OK.

Usually I tell the person directly. I find that no matter how you break bad news, the outcome will not change. It is what it is.
