Dear Editor: I’m so happy to hear about this event (“Theologian Panelists Discuss Women’s Influence On Church,” March 16). I wish I had known about it beforehand so that I could have attended. I’m encouraged to hear about this event, especially because I always feel a special connection to Brooklyn. It was the place where I was born and lived for my formative years.
I was educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood and the Dominican Sisters of Amityville. In Brooklyn I began my faith journey. Now I have grown to see the flaws in the Catholic Church which I love and given my life in ministry in the church. I believe it is time for the clergy to reflect on why women have not been given the right of full equality in the Church.
