Priests in the Diocese of Brooklyn Will Bless the Animals to Celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

The Diocese of Brooklyn will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, with the special Blessing of the Animals by members of the clergy throughout the day outside churches in Brooklyn and Queens.

Saint Francis, who lived in the 12th century, is the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment. Pet owners are invited to bring their animals for a special blessing, asking God to grant them good health and to keep them from harm.
